Bicycling on Minnesota's
Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail
|
This is a 37-mile paved rail trail with end
points at Faribault and Mankato. It goes by lakes, through
Sakatah Lake State Park, and through small towns and farmland.
It is an absolutely beautiful trail and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
We found very good accommodations at Faribault. The best place we found to park and access the trail was a small roadside park on a lake just a mile or so west of Faribault on Minnesota Highway 60. The trail goes right by the parking area you can't miss it, its a boat access area. The state of Minnesota owns and maintains their rail trails. They are paved and used for walking, bicycling and roller blading in summer and for cross-country skiing in winter. Snowmobiles are allowed on some of them. |
We think its so pretty when the path ahead looks like a tunnel!
On the right of the trail here was a lake where we saw a pair of Sandhill Cranes. Beautiful! Wingspreads can be six to seven feet |
