Great Bicycle Trails

   Rail Trails in Pennsylvania

All of these trails are now part of The Great Allegheny Passage. On their website you will find maps and much other information. I will continue to list the portions of the Passage we have ridden.

Allegheny Highlands Trail — South West Pennsylvania

Stony Valley Railroad Grade — Eastern Pennsylvania

Youghiogheny River Trail, South Section — Connellsville to Confluence

Youghiogheny River Trail, North Section — McKeesport to Connellsville

Pennsylvania has 113 rail trails for a total of 923 miles. And not only that, they have 95 active trail projects with a potential of adding 1,067 more miles. Fantastic!

Many of the trails are very short, not trails that you would travel long distances to ride; however, they have some outstanding trails that are well worth planning a trip just to enjoy bicycle riding.

Check out Trails-to-Trails's TrailLink.com for the state of Pennsylvania for a list of the major trails. You will find good information there including, on some trails but not all, a link to the official trail website which often includes maps.

Better yet, checkout Pennsylvania's own website for detailed information and maps.
