Carriage Roads of Acadia National Park — Mt. Desert Island Aroostook Valley Right-of-Way — Caribou Area Maine has 14 rail trails totaling 424 miles. Many, perhaps most, are mainly used by ATVs and snowmobiles. They report 15 active projects that will add 146 miles. Check out Rail-To-Trails' TrailLink.com and search for a list of all the rail trails in Maine. This is your best resource for additional information. Another excellent source is a website maintained by Mr. Kenyon Karl, Maine Trails. You will find more detailed information there than on the Rails-to-Trails site. |
