Bicycling on the Great Western Trail

This 18-mile trail is built on the abandoned mainline of the Chicago Great Western Railroad. It connects the communities of St. Charles and Sycamore. The St. Charles trail head is on Dean Street just west of Randall Road. The surface is crushed limestone.

The trail passes through forest areas and long stretches of open farm land. We enjoyed it immensely.

Young and old alike love to bike down paths like this! We were thrilled to have 17-year old David Scott, who lives in Geneva, ride with us this day.

We think the corn and wheat fields are beautiful!
