Pinellas Trail — St. Petersburg/Tampa Area Withlacoochee State Trail — Citrus Springs/Dade City Area The sunshine state of Florida has 35 rail trails for a total 316 miles. Far more than any other southern state. Congratulations Florida! In addition, they have 36 active trail projects with a potential of 415 more miles. A retired couple who live there, highly recommended to us the trail at Gainesville (probably the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail). They say it goes through beautiful rural areas and they think it is the best in Florida. We are anxious to ride it!
