Biking Bennington and Rutland Counties

In remote western Vermont you will find a 19.8-mile original ballast rail trail that has endpoints in West Rupert and Castleton. This is a fun trail to ride because the terrain is so varied. Sometimes the surface is original ballast, sometimes it's grass and occasionally it is only a path. But it is not too rough to ride and goes through beautiful farmland. We thoroughly enjoyed our day there.
