Great Bicycle Trails

Bicycling Beside the Cape Cod Canal

This is, of course, not a rail trail but 8-mile service roads on each side of the Cape Cod Canal. These roads are for authorized canal vehicles; however, bicycling, walking, and other non-motorized uses are allowed.

We rode on the Cape Cod side and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are in the area with your bikes, be sure to make a side trip to ride one or both of these trails.

If you would like maps and detailed trail descriptions and directions, you will find them in The Cape Cod Bike Book, which can be obtained at the Cape Cod Bike Book website.

Here are some photos we took while we were on the trail:

Pretty trail, isn't it? The large pleasure boats that come through here are beautiful. I'm told that large ships come through too. And what do you think about the bicycle with fishing rod holders on it? My husband absolutely loved this! He has a rod holder for the front of his truck for use when he surf fishes on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. But he had NEVER seen one on a bicycle!
